Baltimore signs veteran starter Charlie Morton to one-year, $15 million deal

The Baltimore Orioles add experience to their starting rotation.

The Orioles announced on the 4th (Korea Standard Time) that they have agreed to a one-year contract with right-hander Charlie Morton (41).

The contract amount was not disclosed separately. According to local media including MLB.com , the contract is worth 15 million U.S. dollars.

Morton showed his rusty skills with the Atlanta Braves last season despite his age.

In 30 games, he played 1,651/3 innings, recording 8 wins, 10 losses, 4.19 ERA, and 1.3 homers, 3.5 walks, and 9.1 strikeouts per 1.3259 WHIP innings.안전놀이터

Based on these activities, he extended his active career by one more year.

He is responsible for the rotation with Jack Epplin, Grayson Rodriguez, Dean Creamer and Tomoyuki Sugano on the new team.

He will add experience that other players do not easily have. Morton is a veteran who has pitched in 383 games over 17 seasons in the Major League alone.

He has ample experience in postseason games. During the seven seasons, he pitched in 18 games with an ERA of 3.60.

He won the World Series in Houston in 2017 and Atlanta in 2021. His experience will be invaluable to Baltimore, which has played in the postseason for two consecutive years but failed to overcome the division series.
